Matthew 8:23-27
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. A windstorm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”
In Matthew 8:23-27, we see that Jesus rebuked the wind and the sea to give calm to the situation that was bringing distress to His disciples. While Jesus was rebuking the winds and sea was he also rebuking the storm of fear raging within his disciples? The calming of our internal storm allows us to see that the external storm is not as bad as what we believe. As believers we indeed have peace that goes beyond our understanding in God, so the storm within should be the first one to calm. If we know that God is our peace, we have access to the only true source. Through our faith in Jesus Christ, the storm on the outside may rage but we are assured that we will have victory. As you face storms, be reminded that although the storms are going to come with God we will surely not perish but will grow stronger in our faith and learn to trust God even more.

Storms! Dea. Steward, I appreciate you for bringing awareness to those inner storms. Lord knows that can be something to deal with. Bless God for the victory we have in Christ Jesus.
Deacon Steward. What a timely word. Sometimes we are so focused on the raging storm that we can’t hear Jesus’ quiet voice saying to us “peace be still”. Still your thoughts and emotions and listen to hear my voice.
Deacon Steward,
A wonderful and timely word, much needed. We all face storms in life at some point, thank God that Jesus can calm whatever storm we may going through. All Glory to God!
Dea.Tim
Thank you Deacon Steward for reminding us that God did not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love and sound mind.
